Man of the Year is presented to a community leader who is an active and passionate member of non-profit boards and organizations and who gives his sweat equity to improve our community and help others.
Get Involved! Woman of the Year (previous winners- Dr. Mary Hines, Joyce Rothermel, Candi Castleberry Singleton, Kate Dewey, Diane McMahon, LaTasha Wilson-Batch) The Get Involved! Woman of the Year is presented to a community leader who is an active and passionate member of non-profit boards and organizations and who gives her sweat equity to improve our community and help others.
Get Involved! Male Emerging Leader Award(18-25 years old)(previous winners- Frank Macinsky, Michael Church, Kevin Ramser, Tim Lessick, Joe Madar, Austin Davis) The Get Involved! Male Rising Star is presented to a young professional who gives his time and talent to worthwhile causes both inside and outside of work and school.
Get Involved! Female Emerging Leader Award (18-25 years old) (previous winners- Jessica Brubach, Allyce Pinchback, Alyssa DiLoreto, Meghan Dillie, Josie Badger, Brittany Reno) The Get Involved! Female Rising Star is presented to a young professional who gives her time and talent to worthwhile causes both inside and outside of work and school.
Dr. Tom Baker Community Leader Award (previous winners- Vivian Lee Croft, George Savarese, Commander Scott Schubert, Dr. Carol Utay, Regina Anderson, Jason Rivers) The Dr. Tom Baker Community Leader Award will be presented in honor of the memory of Dr. Thomas A. Baker, who was a teacher within the Pittsburgh Public Schools throughout his entire professional career before passing away in 1991. Baker was a teacher, author, coach, board member, and even utilized his creative talents as emcee of talent shows and as mascot of the Pittsburgh Public Schools. The Dr. Tom Baker Community Leader Award will go to a passionate, energetic, and positive community champion who makes an impact and helps others in a myriad of ways.
“The Patty Award”- Patty Verostko Award for Child Advocacy (previous winners- Bill Isler, Diane Hartman, Liz Healey, Stephanie Tecza, Lu Randall, Danielle and Patrik McKain) Patty Verostko has spent her lifetime helping children. She became the first woman elected to the Jewish Community Center Baseball Hall of Fame for her volunteer efforts as a coach. Verostko has worked for a number of non-profits and programs and always puts the best interest of children first. The winner of “The Patty Award” should share this commitment to children and passion for improving their lives.
2017 Western PA Rising Stars – The Western PA Rising Stars awards are presented annually to 21 local young professionals (ages 21-30) in the non-profit, business, and governmental sectors who dedicate their time and talent to community organizations and who are making a positive difference in the region.
